Why I'm walking to World Arthritis Day

I am raising money for Versus Arthritis by taking on Walk to World Arthritis Day.

This is my own personal challenge to support the lives of those living with arthritis in the UK. Versus Arthritis won’t rest until everyone with arthritis has access to the treatments and support they need to live the life they choose, with real hope of a cure in the future.

Your donations will fund world class research, high quality services and campaigns that matter most to people with arthritis.

Why I’m Taking Part

Sunday 29th Sep

As some of you may know in December 2018 my mum slipped and hurt her back. In July 2019 she could no longer work and officially finished work for good in February 2020. In July 2020 rheumatology thought my mum had Fibromyalgia but when she was seen in person  in May 2021 the doctor diagnosed my mum with Psoriatic Arthritis.

My mum is on her 5th medication (3rd biologic). She has days of extreme fatigue where she can struggle to function and other days where she feels “normal”. Psoriatic arthritis is an inflammatory arthritis that affects joints and tendons and can affect any of my mums 68 joints. Due to Psoriatic arthritis being a chronic illness my mum has to plan to have a rest day before and after a day where she’s going to be doing something “big”

Me & Aaron are planning on walking 10,000 steps a day for 12 days to raise funds for versus Arthritis. Without the community of people in the same situation as my mum she wouldn’t have anyone to talk to who understands her frustrations, worry’s and achievements.

If you can donate no matter how big or small I’d really appreciate it 🤍🤍
