Why I'm walking to World Arthritis Day

I am raising money for Versus Arthritis by taking on Walk to World Arthritis Day.

This is my own personal challenge to support the lives of those living with arthritis in the UK. Versus Arthritis won’t rest until everyone with arthritis has access to the treatments and support they need to live the life they choose, with real hope of a cure in the future.

Your donations will fund world class research, high quality services and campaigns that matter most to people with arthritis.

Finding new places

Tuesday 10th Oct
Motivating myself to go out walking has been a revelation. Not only do I feel so much better but I keep finding new beautiful places within walking distance of my house. Even in the past week, watching Autumn's touch transform everything has been magical and I know that once this challenge is up I will maintain my daily walks as much as possible.

One foot in front of the other

Wednesday 4th Oct
Today was a tough day. One of the most difficult things about living with RA is that it is so often one step forward, fifteen steps back. But in the challenge of that there is a also a blessing in learning to do what you can when you can, and not to sweat it when you can't. Today I walked, putting one foot in front of the other, just seeing how it went. With each step I shed a little anxiety, found a little seed of content. And although I still feel yuck, taking those moments have made me feel a little less so this evening.

Taking a walk with friends

Tuesday 3rd Oct
Had a lovely walk today round Skipton woods with my mate Lils... it's great that his challenge is making me invite people out for a walk rather than sitting in an over price cafe (although we did that too!!)
