Why I'm walking to World Arthritis Day

I am raising money for Versus Arthritis by taking on Walk to World Arthritis Day.

This is my own personal challenge to support the lives of those living with arthritis in the UK. Versus Arthritis won’t rest until everyone with arthritis has access to the treatments and support they need to live the life they choose, with real hope of a cure in the future.

I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis almost two years ago now, and it has taken me this entire time to begin to feel anything like myself again.

For at least 5 months I couldn't walk without excruciating pain - every single step was a nightmare. I had a walking stick that I used to drag me around the few steps I could manage each day. I remember thinking during this period that I would never be able to walk pain-free again, and that thought sent me down such a pit of depression.

But I forced myself to change my entire lifestyle, I dragged myself to the gym and pool and hot yoga and around the block with that stick, I cut out all food groups that could cause a tiny bit of inflammation, I started meds, I had aspirations, I focused on stress reduction, and then slowly (slowlyyyyy) I got better. 

I'm so inspired to do this challenge for the version of me two years ago that never believed I would even be able to walk around the block again xx
