Why I'm walking to World Arthritis Day

I am raising money for Versus Arthritis by taking on Walk to World Arthritis Day.

20 years ago, I was diagnosed with seronegative rheumatoid arthritis at the age of 20 years old. Living with an invisible illness has its challenges. This is my own personal challenge to support the lives of those living with arthritis in the UK do they can get the help and support that took me many years to find. 

Versus Arthritis won’t rest until everyone with arthritis has access to the treatments and support they need to live the life they choose, with real hope of a cure in the future.

Your donations will fund world class research, high quality services and campaigns that matter most to people with arthritis.

Better late than never…

Saturday 5th Oct
Belated Friday post… What a week! With every intention of topping up the steps yesterday, after picking up the boys and eating dinner, I happened to snooze on the sofa watching MAFS. That sleep was well needed!. But, I did manage an extra 2456 steps, taking a brief walk at lunchtime. 
I have really felt the difference of being more active and I won’t lie, I am struggling a bit 😕 Having to be honest about steps is exposing myself a little….an insight into what really happens day to day. But I’m so motivated to do this to raise money for others. Must keep going 💪🏻

Fit with Rick!

Thursday 3rd Oct
A work from home day, barely moved all day. I woke up this morning feeling so drained. I had said I’d try the gym but I hadn’t got it in me. So…I got fit with Rick! I did a 5000 step dance workout, not too quick paced and only 40 mins. It was actually really fun. Big shout out to my sister Michelle for recommending Rick on the days I’m struggling with steps. Day 3….completed it mate ✅

Wednesday 2nd Oct
Today I have spent more time driving than any form of walking. Less steps today than I would like, but had family round for dinner and so it would be rude of me to to leave to head to the gym right! Tomorrow I need to try and get some time to walk and boost the total. But some is better than none so let’s keep going 💪🏻 

And so it begins!

Tuesday 1st Oct
I have real difficulty in sticking to any kind of target, and it was a slog to give it a go today!  It’s been wet, it’s been colder than usual. All aggravating factors for my conditions AND who wants to go outside in this?
My working day is based at a desk or in the car and so by 5pm today I have no mojo….but 434 steps isn’t going to cut it! So I actually used my gym membership and had a long walk on the treadmill. Slow and steady, AirPods in and episode 1 of Joan. I did it….over what I planned. Bring on day 2! 😊
