Why I'm walking to World Arthritis Day

I am raising money for Versus Arthritis by taking on Walk to World Arthritis Day.

This is my own personal challenge to support the lives of those living with arthritis in the UK. Versus Arthritis won’t rest until everyone with arthritis has access to the treatments and support they need to live the life they choose, with real hope of a cure in the future.

Your donations will fund world class research, high quality services and campaigns that matter most to people with arthritis.

Is It Arthritis?

Wednesday 2nd Oct
Over 15 years ago I was diagnosed with "Widespread Inflammatory Arthritis". Between then and now that's presented as many things - costochondritis, and nowadays ankylosing spondylitis. Whenever I'm in flare-up the pain and inflammation is in every joint from my feet to my neck. Some days physically getting out of bed is an event in itself.

But, with a little daily exercise and movement I find that I'm in much better control - so this walking challenge is something I know I can attempt. I'm not talking daily hikes or even 1 mile a day, my other health problems prevent that, but just being more mindful or my steps each day is achievable. I work from home so taking short breaks to walk around my house, the steps all add up!
