My Great North Run for Versus Arthritis
Monday 15th SepThis year I’ll be taking on my very first Great North Run — and I’m doing it for a cause that’s incredibly close to my heart: Arthritis.
A few years ago, I was diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, a type of arthritis that mainly affects the spine. It causes inflammation, pain, and stiffness, and for me it was a long and frustrating journey. I spent five years living with pain and uncertainty before finally getting a diagnosis. Those years were tough — not knowing what was wrong, not having answers, and often feeling like I was fighting a hidden battle.
Ankylosing spondylitis is notoriously hard to diagnose, and that’s why I want to raise money for Versus Arthritis. They’re doing incredible work to fund research, raise awareness, and provide support to people living with arthritis in all its forms. No one should have to wait years to understand what’s happening to their body, and no one should face arthritis alone.
This is my first ever Great North Run, and honestly, it feels like a huge challenge. Training hasn’t been easy, but I’m determined to cross that finish line — not just for myself, but for everyone who’s still waiting for answers, support, and hope.
I’d be so grateful if you could support me on this journey. Whether it’s through a donation, sharing my story, or cheering me on, every little bit helps make a difference.
So proud if you son.
